5 Proven Ways To Reduce Bounce Rate

“Bounce rate” for those of you who do not know, can simply be defined as the percentage of users who land on your website and decide to leave without going to a second page. They are the most common conversion killers i.e., they don’t let you convert your viewers into subscribers or customers.

Identifying and fixing the problems with your landing pages can easily fix your high bounce rate problem. Let me walk you through some of the most common pitfalls of high bounce rates and how to fix them.

Before you start, identify the pages with highest bounce rate on your platform. You can do this by going to Google Analytics and clicking on Behavior » Site Content » Landing Pages.

1. Give importance to great design: Visitors tend to spend less amount of time on a page that is unattractive, unpleasant and not appealing to the eye. Good web design builds trust, gives visitors a signal of quality and increases chances of browsing.

2. Easy navigation and better overall user experience: Good user experience is when the visitor finds your site easy to use and appealing. They also need clear direction and simplistic laid out navigation for them to stick around. The more complicated the navigation, the faster they leave.

3. Avoid distracting/interrupting ads: Ads along the top of your site and along the sides perform well, but large ads make it difficult to read content and lead to poor user experience.

4. Increase user satisfaction: Diagnose the reason for high bounce rate by using Google Analytics or Microsoft Clarity to increase site visitor’s satisfaction.

5. Relevant target audience: Identify key target audiences and create niche content around that audience. Focus on specific groups to help ensure to find the right people who want to engage with your site.
